yesterdays excursions excursion

huntington

Here’s a fun game to play at the beach. Your brain will hate you. Go up to the water so the waves are washing towards you. Look down at your feet and walk backwards slowly. Since the waves are coming towards you, it looks like you’re walking forwards.

Like I said, your brain will hate you.

Once again, my parents ended up going somewhere more interesting than we did.

"shes proud of me because of the way I dress's proud of me because of the way I dress"

Blog—blog! I haven’t forgotten about you.

Here’s something strange: how come Europe is the only continent that doesn’t have a letter beginning in ‘A’? Strange, huh?

Achewood is down! What shall we do?

strife delivery service

Lem is right: Advent Children is absolutely amazing. It’s one of those movies where you think right after watching it, ‘I want to see that again, tomorrow.’

Cloud vs Kadaj

Favorite moments:

  • The mobile ring tone—hilarious.

  • That bit in the motorbike tunnel where Cloud takes advantage of how huge his sword is.

  • Reno and Rude were pretty cool, no matter what anyone says.

Reno and Rude

Watch some trailers here. But get the subtitled ones if you can—the dubbing’s not very good.

The overall feeling I got was that of getting to hang out with an old friend that you had some great times with back in, say, junior high. Then you’re back together for a day, and when it’s over you’re glad it happened, though disappointed that it seemed so short. My only other complaint is that I would have liked to see more materia and magic, (“Who’s using my materia?”) but that’s no big deal since I like fight scenes, too.

The most amazing thing about the movie? They got Cloud’s hair to look normal. Well, somewhat normal.

Unrelated note: check out some of the music available at HarveyDanger.com. I particularly like the first two songs.

expensive culture shock

You’d think after living in this country for what—five years
now?—I’d have figured things out. Not so. Today I learned that in
America, they make you pay for incoming calls on your phone
as well as outgoing ones. Well, that is one $300 mistake that I won’t
make again.

Oh, and don’t freeze eggs. That is another lesson I learned
today. Seriously. Don’t.

time is a one-way track

Let’s see…. what’s been happening…

mirrormask

I saw the film Mirrormask, which is absolutely amazing. Even though it’s only showing in a few theatres, it is definitely worth the drive. So go see it, since that will make it more likely that it will have a wide-release.

Oh, I saw Doug Tennapel and met Ben Bryan for the first time the other day. That was kind of cool.

I saw this on the bottom of the page on a credit card web site:

bank of america

The redundant security icons are only slightly funny—what really gets me is the address input. Hello—you already have one of those. It’s called the location bar.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention this, but a while back I started a new blog so I can separate out the crazy tech raving from accounts of my life. It’s because I care about you, gentle reader. I just forgot to mention it here. (At some point I hope to have a combined RSS Feed or something and somehow integrate the two.) I also want to try to take more photos of what’s going on around here since I know my mom likes that kind of stuff.
